With a ski holiday in Bad Gastein you can ski in four separate ski areas, then unwind in the evening at a Spa after your hard day of skiing.
Bad Gastein- Ski
The Bad Gastein Valley has four different ski areas with over 200km of pistes. Lift passes valid for more than one day cover all four areas, although one day passes covering just one ski area may be purchased. The Schlossalm-Angertal-Stubnerkogel is the largest of these areas, with pistes ideal for beginners or those who want to take it easy. For expert skiers, and those looking for more of a challenge, the Graukogel ski area has some long, challenging runs.
Bad Gastein- Resort
Bad Gastein is a spa town, so there are plenty of places to relax and unwind after a hard day skiing, or if the weather is bad, such as Alpenthermle, the Felsentherme Spa and the Gastein Healing Galleries. The water supplied to these spas comes from natural thermal springs in the area, and it is possible to visit one of these, the Elisabethquelle spring, on a guided tour.
Activities
A large variety of ice climbing routes in the Bad Gastein valley mean both beginners and experts can go ice climbing, in the company of experienced mountain guides. The Bad Gastein region is also a great place for cross country skiing, with over 90km of cross country ski trails. For those who are in to freestyle, the Gastein Snowpark, which is situated in the Stubnermulde on the Stubnerkogel, opened last year and is very popular.
Children
Ski kindergardens are available for young children over 3 and the ski school has a ‘kids park’. Ski school lessons can be taken Sunday to Friday from 10am to 3pm.
