Zell am See - Ski
Zell am See is a really nice resort especially for beginners. The resort is quite small, but the slopes have a lot of variety and challenging terrain. For the intermediates and expert skiers it might get boring after a while. Zell am See is really near to the Kaprun glacier, where you can also ski.
Zell am See - Town
The resort of Zell am See is really pretty and also known as a lakeside town. It has a charming old centre and thanks to a tunnel the traffic doesn't dreange a lot.
The district Schüttdorf belongs officially to Zell am See, but has a total other character. Here start all the cross country skiing.
Activities
It is really nice to take a train trip to Salzburg. Kitzbühel is also really nice to visit and Innsbruck is really close.
In the resort itself is a wide range of shops and restaurants. You should take a walk across the frozen lake to Thumersbach which is really beautiful.
Other off-slope activities are a motor museum, sleigh rides and alpine flights.
